A cancer diagnosis is one of the most difficult life events that one goes through. Here at, KershawHealth, we are committed to provide cancer patients and their families with the most effective and compassionate oncology care. KershawHealth Oncology administers chemotherapy five days per week, and oncologists from South Carolina Oncology Associates see patients Monday, Wednesday, Thursday and every other Tuesday.
Oncology Services include:
- Chemotherapy, biotherapy and targeted therapy
- Palliative Care
- Supportive Drug Therapy
- IV Antibiotics / Iron Therapy
- Blood products
- Hydration Therapy
- Chemotherapy education, including oral chemotherapy medications
The Oncology Center is located on the first floor of the Medical Center, which is most conveniently accessed from Haile Street in Camden. Use the medical center main entrance and once inside, turn left past the registration desk and Oncology services is located on the left, across from medical records. Typically your physician will arrange for your first visit, and registration will be done in advance so that you can go directly to the Oncology Center when you arrive, without having to stop at Registration.
Your first visit will usually take from 30 to 45 minutes. For this visit, it is a good idea come with a family member or friend. You will be hearing lots important information, and sometimes a second pair of ears can help. Also, please bring a list of your current medications.
Following your initial visit, your actual chemotherapy treatment sessions will be scheduled. They typically last from 3 to 6 hours. You are welcome to bring a family member or friend for company and support.
